State Farm’s marking message is weak. They are fighting to convince me that insurance agents are still relevant. In a recent TV commercial, a young dude and his bros conjure an agent by singing the State Farm jingle. The agent magically appears with a hot girl, a hot tub, and a sandwich. Um…
I use State Farm because I get a loyal customer discount that no one can match. If someone could, well, sorry Agent. Having an agent doesn’t benefit me.
Generally, coverage options are few and I want to spend as little time as possible thinking about insurance. Any well trained person can explain the basic options, hence the timely trend of marketing messages focused on low prices.
State Farm could take a strong position by emphasizing agents, but they are missing their demographic. Better to target old-schoolers and people who don’t trust insurance companies. Some people feel safer with an individual to put their trust in.
Allstate crafts a more solid trustworthy image though, and has actually made me laugh.
